NICK AND JULIAN “BROTHERS FROM DIFFERENT MOTHERS”

Brothers From Different Mothers

Hot off the heels of FUTURE NATURE (which is now available on iTunes), Nick Garcia and Julian Davidson are given the royal treatment over at Skateboarder… Senior photographer, John Bradford, put together a collection of  his photographs from a recent interview with the two. And as the title of the blog would indicate, “Daily Film Blog” the skate photos and portraits are all shot on, well, you guessed it, film. The article, in all its entirety can be seen here.

The FUTURE NATURE collection is available here. And their dilapidated decks from filming the video have been given new life through Element’s “No Board Left Behind” program, which will soon be available here.

Here Come the Alpacas

For a few years now, my wife has been dreaming of owning Alpacas and starting her own fiber farm. Her plan is to raise these beautiful animals, shear them once a year, and produce the finest and softest yarns available for sale to subscribers (like a CSA farm share). She’s been working really hard to raise the funds and has already purchased the animals. We’re currently in the process of building a barn shelter for them and getting a 1 acre pasture fenced in. Lots and lots of work but it’s all very exciting. Click here:  http://www.gofundme.com/l108c  to watch a cool little video she shot explaining the project in more detail.

Here she is, hard at work on the new barn for them.

Snail Hunting

After an extremely draining eleven day trip to Japan with some of the Element team, I’m back home with my hands in the dirt. The first thing I always do to ground myself after a trip is dive into some menial garden chore. I worked on overcoming the jetlag with a good ol’ fashioned snail hunt. The ducks and chickens had a feast from this bucket.

ETHIOPIAN SKATE PARK PROJECT – CHANGING LIVES THROUGH SKATEBOARDING

Elemental Awareness Foundation (EA) teamed up with the Ethiopian Skateboard Park Project (ESPP) in their efforts to teach kids how to skateboard in Ethiopia.  Through Element’s Changing lives through skateboarding program, EA was able to donate shoes and boards to help the ESPP accomplish their goals.  They recently made a trip out to Ethiopia to visit the kids and build some ramps.  The ultimate goal of the project is to build a Skate Park and community center in Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia.  Click Here to learn more about the project and how you can help this dream become a reality.  To see more photos from the trip, Click Here.

TOM SCHAAR LANDS FIRST EVER 1080

Twelve year old Element team rider Tom Schaar has landed the first ever 1080º. It has been amazing to watch Tom’s progression over the past. He first caught our eye when at 7yrs old when he entered the Element am contest series, and his special talent for transition was clear. While we were sure his career would blossom, the rate at which he progressed is alarming. From his quick adaption to vert and the mega ramp, to becoming the youngest ever to do a 900º, he continues to blow minds and set records. We congratulate Tom for his accomplishment, and can’t wait to see what he does next.

California RampWorks was strategic in helping Tom see this trick to its reality. Check out exclusive interviews and the feature built by CRW that helped make it all possible. See further documentation and photos here.
